Tully Falls Bridge

The existing timber bridge has deteriorated significantly – as you can see in the accompanying photo – rendering it insufficient for current needs. A temporary steel structure has been placed over structure to provide short term access. No Council records of the existing bridge structure exist and the original construction date is unknown. Broadly, the existing structure consists of: concrete abutments, wing walls, nine timber single span girders, concrete deck slab, concrete kerbs, gravel surfaced approaches, temporary steel access structure. Tablelands Regional Council has developed a package to remove the existing bridge and replace it with a proprietary reinforced concrete bridge. Council engaged PDR / SMEC to undertake the design and documentation of this upgrade. Works included in this contract includes, but is not limited to: removal of temporary steel access structure, partial demolition of existing structure, construction of new bridge foundations, supply and installation of reinforced concrete bridge, construction of approach road pavement and surfacing, supply and installation of traffic railing.
